| | | Enough Already, Please! | submitted by: dj tanner | | | | | | | | | | | | Enough with the armchair politicking already! I do not want to hear another single word from anybody about how the government is not doing enough or wasn't prepared for Hurricane Katrina. Could things have been better? Sure. But, there is absolutely no good being done by endlessly debating and pointing fingers. What we need is action. Go donate money to the Red Cross or the charity of your choice, go donate blood, do what you can, but please, stop the finger pointing. It achieves nothing.
It is so easy for the 250 million of us who are sitting here in comfort to say how our government's response was inadequate, or to take the easy (and trendy) route and blame the President, but I will repeat: it isn't doing any good. I'm asking you, people of the United States, stop this nonsense. Please, I implore.
Side note to Kanye West: Not only am I thoroughly disgusted by your actions last night, which I am thankful I did not witness first hand but only had to read about them this morning, but I cannot believe that even you, who have received such widespread critical acclaim and praise lately, would stoop to such low levels by selfishly drawing even more attention to yourself just three days after your new CD hit store shelves. Infuriating the Black American public about the hurricane response and its bias toward blacks, clever as it may seem, does nothing more than boost your record sales. I am sickened that someone who, as allegedly educated as you, one who has been praised for rising above the typical hip hop mentality, would do such a despicable thing. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Yeah...just read your link. While I completely support his right to his own opinion, that kind of comment can do more harm than good. Some white folks already have questionable opinions of black folks, and his "disrespectful" remarks might just push them over the edge.
I *do* think that the American News Media (heck, America as a whole) is biased in a million subtle and subconscious ways against black folks, but alienating people as Kanye surely did only serves to worsen things.

I think we should send Pat Robertson down there. He can help with "taking out" the looters.

Funny how kanye did not say anything about the 7 people that were shooting at the engineer corps whilst trying to repair the canal.
AND i am assuming they were black, because i truly dont know what kind of self respecting white person would shoot at people trying to fix his neighborhood.
I said that statement to show how closed minded and stupid kanyes comment was. I do not beleive that those people that were shot were black but according to kanye, bush is against all blacks.. so why not.
What a dumb N.

I've listened to a bit of Bubba's show on Sirius. It's really more annoying than entertaining. I think he's a blowhard. I don't really enjoy his sense of humor. Plus he gets pissed off for no good reason. Some reporter asked him a question, I believe it had something to do with Howard being his boss, it was really a benign question, but he got all up in arms about it, fuck this, fuck that, fuck you, the whole bit. I was listening to him thinking WTF crawled up YOUR ass? So right there that turned me off. Plus he swears too much. It's like he swears just because he can, the conversation doesn't even warrant it.
That is all.
